Small Town Campaign Delivers Big with Holiday Event: St.Anthony Holiday Passport generates more than $2.5M in spending at local businesses

St.Anthony Basin Resources Inc.’s loyalty card driven campaign brought in over 12,500 cards, generating more than $2.5 million dollars in local spending.

December 22, 2022 – The “buy local” campaign included 36 local businesses, and dozens of local prizes. Customers collected stamps on wallet sized cards to enter for a chance to win prizes. Businesses, like Colemans say the campaign brought the community alive, spreading cheer and excitement.

“It was a good event. The whole community was buzzing. People had their cards out before we had a chance to ask. People were looking forward to it.”

-Melanie Powell, Manager, Colemans

SABRI launched the Holiday Campaign with partners St. Anthony Area Chamber of Commerce in early November, to encourage shopping local and increased sales for small businesses in St. Anthony. This was made possible through funding from ACOA and the Re-Discover Main Street Programming. To participate, businesses were asked to contribute a gift certificate valued between 25 and 50 dollars. Those items and a round trip for two from Provincial Airlines made up the campaign’s prizes.

“This campaign proved people do care about their local business community, and you don’t have to go far to check off items on your Christmas list. We hope these types of campaigns can continue and be expanded as we work with our partners.”

– Christopher Mitchelmore, Executive Director, St. Anthony Basin Resources Inc.

SABRI is based in St.Anthony on the Great Northern Peninsula, celebrating 25 years as a social enterprise.
