Parker’s River Conservation

Home Parker’s River Conservation

St. Anthony Basin Resource Incorporated’s Salmonid counting fence on Parker’s River Newfoundland and Labrador is funded by the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation (ASCF) in partnership with Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture and WWF to assess the status of Atlantic salmon, Arctic char and Brook trout in Parker’s River by gaining a count of the number of each species as they enter the system.

Parker’s River Counting Fence

Parker’s River is a scheduled salmon river on the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). The last counts were complete in 2010 and 2011. This is a multi-year program that concluded year two of counting in 2022.

  • Atlantic Salmon: 2021 – 26; 2022 -117
  • Arctic Char: 2021 – 341; 2022 – 497
  • Brook Trout: 2021 – 147; 2022 – 307
